Night Vision PVS14 gen3

-----------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ANVIS MX-10160C F9800 Thin Filmed Autogated OMNI VII Image Intensifier Tube - shielded = aviation tube
Resolution 64 lp/mm
Phosphor P43
S/N ratio 28+
Photocathode sensitivity 2200+
Sensitivity at uA/lm@830nm 120@880
Gain fL/fc 50000 - 80000
EBI (x10^-11) <2>+3)

==============================================================

You have a civilian version of the (non-contract) ITT MX-10160C (F9800VG) 272692-35 autogated tube with metal EMP shielded casing. It has the same minimum specs as the military tube. It simply was sold on the civilian market. It is electronically and functionally the same.

Don't let the talk about not having manual gain deter you from using this tube. Some of the best views I have ever had were using an F9800 version of the military tube.

If you were in the US, if it is bright and blemish free, it would be worth about $1500 unhoused. In Europe I would think it would be worth much more than this. (New in the US, it would be about $2800 to $3200).

The reality though is that you might pay a lot more for a tube that does not perform much better than this. The F9800 was a top of the line thin film image intensifier. This was what was given to military pilots flying multi-million dollar aircraft. They got the highest performance tubes of the military standard issue tubes.

I would say that the performance would be better than some of the filmless tubes out there that I have seen but since there are no filmless tubes in Europe, getting a tube much better than the 10160C/F9800980 VG or F is going to be mighty expensive and the performance difference will likely be far less than the extra money you would spend on it.
