Poate ca nu am inteles eu bine, dar lucrurile par un pic neclare, sau chiar contradictorii.

https://www.livescience.com/rare-blood-red-arc-of-light-shines-in-the-scandinavian-sky-what-is-it

De aici mi-au atras atentia doua pasaje:

''During SARs, energy from the ring current system, which surrounds the magnetosphere, heats up the gas in the upper atmosphere and makes it glow like an aurora. For unknown reasons, only oxygen is heated up during a SAR, which means these phenomena always emit the exact same shade of red, according to Spaceweather.com.''

''Massive streaks like the one over Denmark only become visible when strong solar storms weaken the magnetosphere, which enables more heat from the ring current system to enter the upper atmosphere.''

Alt arrticol interesant este asta, despre curentii inel din jurul Terrei

https://www.nasa.gov/missions/van-allen-probes/nasas-van-allen-probes-reveal-long-term-behavior-of-earths-ring-current/

''The ring current lies at a distance of approximately 6,200 to 37,000 miles (10,000 to 60,000 km) from Earth. The ring current was hypothesized in the early 20th century to explain observed global decreases in the Earth’s surface magnetic field''

Si in loc de concluzie avem asa:

https://spaceweatherarchive.com/2023/11/08/earths-ring-current-system-just-sprang-a-leak/

''Recent research has linked SAR arcs to another phenomenon that is not an aurora: STEVE. The mauve ribbon in the sky was not originally thought to have anything to do with Earth’s ring current. Yet in 2015, observers in New Zealand caught a bright red SAR arc transforming itself into STEVE like a caterpillar into a butterfly.''

Asadar, avem niste curenti arc la 10 000-60 000 km inaltime care degaja caldura in atmosfera inalta, (care din ce stiu eu e la 80-130 km), datorita unor sparturi in campul magnetic al pamantului provocate de furtunile solare foarte puternice. Asta desi in schema desenata in aceste articole, oxigenul excitat apare dincolo de aceste arce, spre cosmos.
