Status of job 20260305175319
Dear submitter,

Here is the current status of samples you submitted to the Nomenclature Committee
for job 20260305175319 (NWAHowardite_Dumitru):

The following meteorites are still pending before the committee:

Northwest Africa 18481 (799 g, Howardite)

Dr. Chris Herd mi-a trimis si continutul, citez cateva extrase:

FOR THE WRITEUP howardite

(B. Hassen and C. Herd, UAb) Optical and microprobe examination of a polished thin section shows a highly fragmented breccia containing a variety of lithic and mineral clasts up to 3 mm across. Lithic clasts include mm-scale pigeonite-plagioclase-silica and orthopyroxene-chromite assemblages, consistent in mineral composition with eucrite and diogenite lithologies, respectively. Mineral clasts include augite and pigeonite with fine exsolution lamellae, plagioclase, ilmenite and silica. Shock effects include plagioclase partially converted to maskelynite and mosaicism in pyroxene. There is no obvious terrestrial alteration.

(C. Herd, B. Hassen, and A. Locock, UAb) Data obtained by EMP examination of carbon-coated thin section: opx Fs32±9 Wo2.3±0.8, FeO/MnO=31±3 (n=28 ), pigeonite Fs48±8 Wo9.1±2.6, FeO/MnO=31±2 (n=16), augite Fs25±2 Wo40±2, FeO/MnO=30±3 (n=2),plagioclase Ab10±6 An89±7, Or 0.5±0.7, range An72-95 (n=16).

https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20120001855/downloads/20120001855.pdf

O sa-i propun Dr.Chris Herd, sa vad daca este interesat. Sau pe alta cale.
